Maple Tree Directors lobby Government three years on from legalisation

The first week in November is an important date within the medical cannabis industry as it marks exactly three years since cannabis was legalised for medicinal use within the UK. However, to date, just three NHS prescriptions have been issued throughout that time.

The 2nd annual Medical Cannabis Awareness Week kicks off this week, intending to highlight further the need for real-world evidence, why fairer access to the life-changing treatment is required and why it is unrealistic to expect patients to fund private prescriptions. Patients continue to suffer without a medical cannabis prescription due to the fear, stigma, and financial barriers preventing them from accessing life-altering treatment.

Maple Tree Consultants are proud to be supporting businesses, family support groups and patient access groups throughout Medical Cannabis Awareness Week 2021.

Directors Hannah Deacon, Professor Mike Barnes, Peter Carrol and Will de Peyer are taking an active role, meeting MPs, supporting families as part of the End Our Pain Campaign and appearing in multiple media outlets to spread the word. You can read more in coverage in The Times, BBC and Sky News and the team has also appeared this week on The World At One, BBC 5 Live Breakfast, GB News and ITV.
