Isle of Man gives the green light for medical cannabis production

The Isle of Man is open for medical cannabis production, with Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly encouraging businesses to apply for a licence.

The rules only govern the production of products for export, and using the drug on the Island remains illegal. However, UK medical cannabis clinics and pharmacists are working with businesses on the Island to facilitate private prescriptions.

Mr Skelly said: "I am delighted to welcome licence applications and look forward to attracting quality businesses to the Island, transforming the cannabis export sector into a key contributor to the Isle of Man's post-Covid economic recovery.

The new regulatory framework and guidance will offer stringent and flexible licensing of a broad range of cannabis products, which ranges from outdoor grown industrial hemp to indoor-grown medicinal products."
